As the Director of Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Heller is fellowship-trained, double board-certified, and highly skilled in a wide range of treatments to help patients return to a high quality of life and achieve maximum functionality.
Dr. Daniel Heller leads a pain management program that takes a collaborative and integrative approach to chronic pain relief. Working with a multidisciplinary team of specialists and an extensive number of treatment modalities, Dr. Heller is able to elevate patient care beyond simply treating pain to address the total well being of his patients. He is passionate about helping patients achieve their goals by improving their function and minimizing the impact of acute or chronic pain conditions.
His professional interests include electromyography (EMG), interventional procedures for acute and chronic pain, and neuromodulation using spinal cord stimulation systems (SCS).
Dr. Heller has been using SCS to treat spine pain for over 15 years has performed over 5,000 EMG studies during his career. He joined Blue Ridge Orthopaedic & Spine Center in 2008.
Dr. Heller graduated with High Honors from Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree and then went on to earn his medical degree. After completion of his M.D. he and his wife moved to Chicago, IL where he completed an intern year and residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University School of Medicine and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago which has been ranked #1 for over twenty years, longer than any other specialty hospital in the nation. Following his residency Dr. Heller completed an ACGME accredited Pain Medicine Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Heller is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is board certified in pain medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
